Community assembly has been an issue of concern for more than 100 years in ecology. Answers to questions regarding how species congregate and coexist may have significant impacts on the restoration of ecological communities that have been damaged by human activity. Eldertree Stoneoak & Brookings, Inc. has developed a mathematical model that emulates the process. Our work at La Selva allowed us to test this model in plant, bird, and insect communities, with excellent results.

This effort has evolved into an ongoing study which will continue to be conducted and evaluated over many years. Eldertree Stoneoak & Brookings, Inc. has performed similar studies at The Burren in County Claire, Ireland, and have derived comparable, successful results.
